Believe it or not, autumn begins this month. It may not feel like it during the day, but the nights are getting cooler, and harvest-time is just around the corner. It's a great time to get outdoors and enjoy some family fun!

Saturday, October 18, 2008. 4:30-6:00 p.m. (Superstitions Springs Third Annual Festival)
Who knows what character Persephone will be this year? Don't forget to wear your costume and get ready to have a "monstrous" good time. Persephone will be singing Halloween hits throughout and conducting the costume marches. Costume contest registration starts at 4.30 p.m. (ages 0-12 years are eligible.)

Saturday, October 25, 2008. 3:30-5:00 p.m. (Doggy Palooza)
Persephone can't wait to have some "doggone" good fun with her furry friends. Dogs love costumes, too! All well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Costume contest registration starts at 3:30 p.m., with the doggy costume contest and other fun games for dogs at 4:00. There is an entry fee for dogs in the costume contest, plus there will be raffles for prizes. All proceeds will benefit Friends for Life animal shelter.

Sunday, October 26, 2008. 12:45-1:30 p.m. (Anthem Autumnfest)
Persephone will be performing a fall celebration concert at the Anthem Community Park amphitheater as part of a 3-day event. There will be pumpkin carving for the kids and a lot more. Come early and stay for the concert, or come for the concert and enjoy the events throughout the afternoon. Anthem Autumnfest is being held Friday through Sunday, October 24-26, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. This event is free and open to the public. Bring the entire family for a beautiful day in the park! Activities include an arts and crafts village, food, a kids' zone, and exceptional entertainment, including a variety of bands, musicians, and dancers. All performances are in the amphitheater area.

Friday, October 31, 2008. 6:00-8:00 p.m. (Malloween at Paradise Valley Mall)
This event is a safe alternative to trick-or-treating. Bring your little ones in costume to collect Halloween candy in the mall. An extra treat will be Halloween songs and fun with Persephone. She will be performing in the kid's playground area (the Westcor Kid's Club location) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
